This fora fits within the theme of Transformations in Society and Environmental Policy and offers a nexus approach to considering research in the areas of health, risk and communities research. Commonly, nexus approaches within research identifies synergies, across domain theme areas (i.e. food, water, energy) and or sectors (policy-research-practice) and provide a focus that highlights intersectionality, interdependencies and trade-offs.
Given that nexus approaches have the potential to reduce negative surprises and promote integrated planning, management and governance, this fora aims to galvanise and stimulate research activity in this area with a primary focus on the Scottish context.
Specifically, the aim of this fora represents an opportunity to draw on the knowledge, skills and expertise of members actively engaged in research both within and beyond Scotland, working with research aligned with health, risk and communities research in the context of the climate crises. Given the research expertise of identified members, the framing of this fora extends additionally into areas of environmental pollution, air quality, water resource issues, and urban planning processes.
