CREATING SUSTAINABLE WATER FUTURES – COLLABORATION FOR CONFRONTING COMPLEX CHALLENGES

The Sustainable Water Futures - Collaboration for Confronting Complex Challenges forum provides a platform for facilitating collaborative network formation and supporting the development of high impact research and the exchange of knowledge and expertise aimed at tackling complex water security challenges. It aims to foster, strengthen, and broaden interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaborations among researchers, policymakers, and practitioners for the development of new knowledge, technologies, interventions and solutions that confront the complexities of contemporary water security challenges. Achieving global water security requires action and collaboration across different sectors, communities, and disciplines at national and international scales to develop effective solutions and promote just transitions in water resource management.

The forum focuses on four overarching and interrelated water security challenges:

  1. Improving knowledge and understanding of global water security challenges, their impacts at different scales, and the challenges involved in addressing their impacts.
  2. Co-developing new techniques and interventions for sustainably improving water security.
  3. Developing impact-driven research to enhance engagement between researchers, policy, and society for inclusive and sustainable management of water resources.
  4. Behaviour change and just transitions in sustainable water resource management.

Our activities are designed to facilitate:

  1. a) networking workshops between researchers, policymakers and practitioners at the national and international level and b) development of interest-based working groups, based upon members’ collectively identified priorities.

Our forum is open to all members from any academic discipline with an interest in water security issues. If interested, please register for our mailing list. For further information, please contact Irena Connon or David Haro Monteagudo
