Announcement from Professor Brice Rea – SAGES Director
I am excitedly writing to inform you that SAGES Phase 4 has already officially commenced and is scheduled to run from 1st February 2026 until the 31st January 2029.
Currently SAGES P4 comprises 7 confirmed member institutions: the Universities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Heriot Watt, St. Andrews, UHI and the BGS.
You will see that our institutional numbers and thus overall membership have reduced and so has our income. However, I am hopeful that we can continue SAGES pretty much as before so that you will see no meaningful changes to our activities or the funding opportunities that we offer. As is normal when we transition into a new Phase there will be calls coming out soon for applications to various positions within SAGES including Theme leads and other positions. There will also soon be a call for new Fora and for applications to existing and new funding schemes e.g. the small grants round, watch this space.
Planning for the ASM is a little behind but details will be sent out soon for a diary hold.
As always SAGES success is wholly dependent on the engagement of you, the members, so please continue to engage and contribute to SAGES and to avail yourselves of the funding opportunities that we offer.
