After graduating from the University of Leuven (Belgium) in 2014 with a BSc in Geography, Inne joined the EMBC+ programme (International Master of Science in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation), for which she enrolled in courses based at Ghent University (Belgium) and UPMC (University Pierre and Marie Curie, France). She completed her master’s thesis at Centro de Ciências do Mar (CCMAR) in Portugal investigating the potential of sea cucumbers as ecological indicators.
She then went on to work for an environmental services company (eCOAST, Belgium) as a scientific research fellow. Consequently, she worked at Ghent University, assisting in the coordination of the International Master in Marine Biological Resources. In the spring of 2018, she participated in a yearly oceanographic monitoring campaign in the NW Mediterranean (MOOSE-GE) before starting her PhD project at the NAFC later that year.
The aim of my PhD research is to develop a spatial tool to optimise the siting of marine renewable energy developments, to meet technical, economic, environmental and socio-cultural objectives. This will be done in collaboration with stakeholders, especially inshore fisheries.
