I am a geomorphologist currently working with morphotectonic analysis at regional scale. My principle research interest lies in understanding the landscape evolution of different geomorphological features of the world, especially the inter-relationship between tectonics, lithology and Earth surface processes. I combine quantitative and statistical analyses of spatial and temporal data to understand the geomorphological evolution of landscapes.

Title: Spatial variations in landscape evolution in a post-orogenic setting
Summary: That post-orogenic landscapes in continental interiors maintain significant relief many millions of years after mountain building has ceased, remains enigmatic in our understanding of landscape evolution. Rates of denudation are known to vary primarily with topographic relief worldwide, yet post-orogenic landscapes characterised by high relief are often found to have low denudation rates. This project seeks to determine why the post-orogenic landscape of the Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF), Brazil, is able to maintain high relief, by measuring rates of denudation and performing quantitative analysis of the topography. The QF is an important mineral province and thus its landscape history has economic relevance for managing these valuable resources, which may also be redistributed by surface processes. The landscape that has previously been interpreted as both being ancient and rejuvenated.
