I’m a Postdoctoral researcher at the university of Stirling, Scotland. I’m interested in extracting information from aerial images supported by statistical and machine learning algorithms. In my current position as a radar remote sensing scientist, I am developing novel methods for monitoring water quantity from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite imagery. This can be changes in water quantity due climate extremes such as floods and droughts or due to changes in ecosystems and meteorological conditions such as changes in soil moisture and peatland water table depth. I am also developing the data ingestion and processing chains to make these algorithms operational.
My PhD focused on the use of multi-temporal and polarimetric SAR data for agricultural fields monitoring. I focused on understanding vegetation and SAR signal interaction and developing near-real time crop monitoring and early warning systems. Prior my PhD, I studied an MSc at Swansea university in Wales, a postgrad specialization course in project management and my BSc in Electrical engineering in Colombia.
