My research interests include: Science-practice-policy interfaces for deep-sea and open-ocean marine biodiversity governance processes; Integration of scientific research within policy processes; Capacity building in marine science and transfer of marine technology to support equitable implementation of biodiversity conservation and sustainable use measures; FAIR data policies in marine scientific research and dissemination activities.
Prior to undertaking a PhD in Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences (University of Edinburgh), I worked as a Marine Conservation Officer at a coral reef restoration organisation, a Research Assistant with the Horizon 2020 ATLAS project, and as a Marine Policy Project Manager with the Horizon 2020 iAtlantic project. I hold an undergraduate degree with a double major in Law and Human Rights (Carleton University, Canada) and a Master of Science in Marine Systems and Policies (University of Edinburgh, UK). In addition, I am the Co-Lead of the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative’s BBNJ Working Group, where I work with an international and interdisciplinary group of marine scientists to help connect marine science and scientists with decision-making processes.
