Research interests:

Environmental microbiology/Geochemistry: Impact of organic pollutants on the emergence of Antibitoic Resistance in the aquatic environment , with aims to:
– Identify key organic pollutants found in different aquatic environments and variability due to geochemical and environmental features such as seasonality.
– Measure levels of resistance in key microorganisms
– identifying geochemical drivers of AMR using invitro studies and environmental samples
– Producing a mechanistic hypothesis for AMR in the environment from experiments from environmental samples and invitro studies

Research interests include the role of sedimentation in transport and accumulation of pollutants, AMR links to current and historic anthropogenic activities in the marine environment, and the role of Potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in the marine environment and the link to AMR.
