This year the Retreat was at the Macdonald Hotel, Aviemore. The weather was festive with ice and snow but we welcomed everyone with an enjoyable game of ‘find the bar’ most participants were successful and were awarded a drink! Participants were from SAGES partners of Aberdeen, Abertay, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Stirling and the University of the West of Scotland.
Following on from 2016 we welcomed back the Barefoot Creative Thinking team of Martin Bloxham and Peter Redstone who hosted a one-day workshop on Post-PhD Career Strategies’. The structured day was focussed on better understanding skills and interests, being aware of strengths and weaknesses, identifying career options and ended with participants producing a 3-5 year desired career outcomes and building an action plan to achieve these. Thank you to everyone for your energy and input into this event and thank you again Peter and Martin. (We even found time to visit Santa’s Grotto!).
