SAGES 2017 Graduate School Retreat

SAGES 2017 Graduate School Retreat

Dr John Howe, SAGES Graduate School Convenor invites members of the SAGES Graduate School to join us for the 2017 Graduate School Annual Retreat to be held at the MacDonald Aviemore Hotel, on Wednesday 29th & Thursday 30th November 2017. We have also opened this invitation to our colleagues in the MASTS Graduate School and Geoverbund Graduate School.

This years Retreat will feature a one-day training course focussed on ‘Post-PhD Career Skills’.

Historically, early career scientists have received little support for career development strategies. Peter and Martin from ‘Barefoot Thinking’ have worked extensively with early and mid-career scientists in the UK and North America since 2009. Through their Challenge of Science Leadership training programme they have come to understand the career challenges facing postgraduates and postdoctoral research fellows. To help you, they have developed a unique 1-day career strategy workshop aimed at early career scientists. During the workshop you will learn strategic thinking tools, receive support from your peers and the trainers and have valuable time to think.

Full details are available on the event outline.

SAGES provides up to 25 free places on this course, travel expenses (maximum £50) will also be reimbursed to SAGES members.

To register for this event please complete and submit the online registration by the deadline of 17:00 Friday 10 November 2017.
